<p>You will need to bring some clothes and other items from home to be comfortable during your stay at the hospital. Here is a list of things to think about to get you started. You may think of other things you would like to bring. You can also download the
<a target="_blank" href="https://assets.aboutkidshealth.ca/AKHAssets/Transplant_what_to_bring_to_hospital_en.pdf">list of what to bring and what to leave at home</a> and save it as a reminder.</p><h2>What to bring to the hospital</h2><h3>Personal items</h3><ul><li>Tooth brush, toothpaste, any special cleaning tools if you have braces or a retainer.</li><li>Hairbrush or comb, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel.</li><li>Anything you use regularly such as glasses or contact lenses, hearing aids or crutches.</li></ul><h3>Clothes</h3><ul><li>Enough loose, comfortable clothing for day and night (plan for 10-14 days).</li><li>Slippers or other indoor shoes.</li></ul><h3>Bedding</h3><ul><li>A favourite blanket, if you like.</li></ul><h3>Contact information</h3><ul><li>Phone numbers of any friends or relatives you will want to call.</li></ul><h3>Medical details</h3><ul><li>Your OHIP card</li><li>The binder with all the information about your transplant – you will also use it to keep all your important medical information and test results.</li><li>A list of your current medicines.</li><li>If you are coming from far away, a thermometer, blood pressure cuff and stethoscope (if possible) – you will need these once you are discharged and staying close to the hospital.</li></ul><h3>School stuff</h3><ul><li>School books or any homework.</li></ul><h3>Things to help pass the time</h3><ul><li>Books, magazines, playing cards, board games.</li><li>Cell phone, laptop, tablet*.</li></ul><p>*If you choose to bring these, remember that you cannot store them in a safe place in the hospital.
