Because of this, it is not unusual for some complications, or problems, to occur as you recover and return to your daily life.<br></p><p>It is important to detect complications as soon as they happen. To do this, your transplant team will make frequent appointments to see you and do bloodwork. If the team finds complications early, they can usually do something to fix them.</p><p>Your transplant team will also ask you to check for early signs of some complications by yourself. This is called self-monitoring. </p><p>You will need to self-monitor for four main types of complications after a kidney transplant:</p><ul><li> <a href="/article?contentid=2726&language=English">surgical and post-operative complications</a></li><li> <a href="/article?contentid=2727&language=English">rejection</a></li><li> <a href="/article?contentid=2728&language=English">infection</a></li><li> <a href="/article?contentid=2729&language=English">other complications​</a>.</li></ul><p>It is important to do self-monitoring frequently to give yourself the best chance of long-term success with your new kidney. <br></p>
